Intro to Medicare and Medicare Advantage for Ins. agents  

Statement of Knowledge, skills and abilities the license is expected to obtain through the completion of this course:

This is an introductory course that will cover very important material in 2 hours, so it is not expected to provide in-depth coverage of the topics.

Students will obtain an understanding of the fundamental structure of the Medicare program for individuals. They will learn about Medicare Parts A, B, C and D. The course will cover the different government programs as well as the private plans available in the market. They will learn about the Medicare options individuals have and what they need to know with regards to eligibility requirements, enrollment periods and enrollment process.

They will learn how to decide which Medicare option is more convenient for an individual, from the perspective of chronic conditions, affordability and doctors network access. The structure of plan networks will be covered, including HMO’s, PPO’s and PFFS.

Students will be lectured on the cost structure of the different plans and how to apply for the different types of help available for enrollment, including Medicaid, MSP, and LIS.
